On 29 July, Arkema, the global leading Specialty Materials company, was presented with the “2021 Model Enterprise for Sustainable Development” at the 10th Finance Summit. Not only does this recognizes Arkema’s ongoing CSR efforts and outstanding contributions to sustainable development, it also reflects the company’s determination to continuously drive forward its CSR projects in China.
Arkema recognized as “2021 Model Enterprise for Sustainable Development”
As one of the most influential annual business events in China, the 10th Finance Summit brings together the country's industry elites across various fields. Arkema was among a small handful of chemical enterprises widely recognized for its excellence in environmental and economic dimensions, particularly its commitment to sustainable development. Having integrated its CSR approach into its development strategy, Arkema has three clearly defined overall CSR policy commitments. They are offering sustainable solutions driven by innovation, managing activities as a responsible manufacturer, and cultivating open dialogue and close relations with stakeholders to promote a sustainable transition globally.

Sustainable solutions driven by innovation
Arkema has always stayed ahead of the latest trends by providing its customers with pioneering and sustainable solutions on five R&D platforms: natural resources management, lightweight materials and design, new energies, electronics solutions, home efficiency and insulation.
As a global pioneer in both monomer and polymer production from castor oil feedstock, Arkema has been committed to innovating new and advanced bio-circular polymers solutions. High-performance specialty polyamides, represented by Rilsan® PA11, is 100% sourced from renewable raw material. To date, its application includes additive manufacturing (3D printing), automotive and transportation, consumer electronics, footwear and other applications. Additionally, Arkema has been promoting the production of castor crops through sustainable castor farming program “Pragati”.
Taking action for the climate and the environment
Serving as a responsible producer, Arkema is committed to taking action on the environment and climate change globally with a climate plan that is aligned with the Paris Agreement: to reduce its absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 38% in 2030 compared to 2015. Through improving industrial processes, reducing energy consumption, purchasing electricity from low-carbon sources and other production and operational activities, Arkema has been able to gradually reduce the Group’s overall environmental footprint.
Shared values and special relations with stakeholders
Arkema is committed to building long-lasting ties with our stakeholders. This will be critical in enabling the company to establish a responsible value chain that strives to create shared value. Based on local circumstances and specific community needs in China’s young students, Arkema has carried out a series of CSR activities under the theme of "Better Life, Better Future". They include the " ChemArt Green Innovation Class ", a long-term CSR program that has been working with students for five consecutive years. In 2020, Arkema joined One Foundation’s charitable initiative, Clean Water Project, to help schools improve drinking water conditions and enhance students’ understanding for the importance of drinking water quality and safety.
