Arkema China History (1984-2023)
The Arkema Group was created in October 2004, following the reorganization of its former parent company Total's Chemicals branch, and was listed on the Paris stock market in 2006 with headquarters based in Paris, France.
Arkema China is headquartered in Shanghai. As the second largest national market for the Group, the Chinese market plays a pivotal role. The predecessor of Arkema has launched business in China since 1984. In China, Arkema has more than 3,000 employees, 10 industrial sites and 2 R&D centers, including the Changshu platform, Arkema’s largest industrial platform worldwide.
Arkema China is committed to promoting business development in China by strengthening its local R&D capabilities, with the aim of providing customers in China and Asia with innovative solutions that meet the market needs of today and tomorrow.

Arkema’s business has continued to grow through a number of investments in construction and selective acquisitions, adhering to the Group's innovation and sustainable development strategy.

- Kynar® fluoropolymer Expansion(Changshu)
- Bio-based speciality polyamides comes on stream (changshu)

- Finalized the acquisition of Ashland’s Performance Adhesives business (February,2022)

- Bostik invested in a joint venture with Cartell Chemical Co (January,2021)
- Announced an increase for Kynar® fluoropolymer capacity at its Changshu site (February,2021)

- Starts up 50% capacity increase of Kynar® fluoropolymer for the lithium-ion battery business at Changshu plant (December,2020)
- Joins Clean Water Project Initiated by One Foundation (November, 2020)
- Announces the acquisition of Fixatti (July, 2020)

- Completes the acquisition its partner's stake in Sunke (September, 2019)
- Launches brand Pavilion at Alibaba 1688 (May, 2019)
