Green life for a sustainable future
"Better Life, Better Future" is a local CSR brand proposed by Arkema China in 2016.
In 2023, Arkema announced to further deepen its local CSR activities and upgrade its CSR brand in China. Guided by a brand new theme – Green Life for a Sustainable Future – the company will proactively pursue and develop local CSR efforts across the board, and broaden stakeholders’ outreach to mobilize participation.
Around this theme, Arkema has launched a series of CSR projects and activities in China, aiming to help young students broaden their horizons, gain exposure to knowledge in various aspects, and help them develop holistically.
The CSR brand is not only a major initiative to deepen Arkema's CSR in China locally, but also a demonstration of Arkema's commitment to "effective communication and close cooperation with stakeholders" and its Consensus® initiative to "develop lasting relationships based on trust and openness".
Currently, the brand includes the long-term CSR programs "Green ChemArt" and "Clean Water Project".
Arkema China Volunteer Association
The Arkema China Volunteer Association was officially established in March 2017, dedicated to better pooling the strength of employees and integrating internal resources to further deepen Arkema's CSR in China and provide a platform for employees to participate in CSR activities more conveniently.
Over the years, Arkema's employee volunteers have often reached out to communities and schools to engage in various activities such as safety, environmental protection and education, transmitting positive energy and contributing to the sustainable development of society.
Arkema also continues to strengthen its ties with local communities and encourages its employees to actively participate in social responsibility activities to create value for society and Arkema, to build a better life together and to help build a sustainable world.
Arkema ChemArt Green Innovation Class
Launched in 2016, the "Green ChemArt" aims to complement school education, combine with the actual needs of partner schools, and carry out various volunteer activities around innovation, safety and environmental protection. The project is designed to provide children with more opportunities and resources to help them develop their horizons, access knowledge in multiple directions, stimulate their creative abilities, achieve all-round development and open up a better future.
At present, the project has been carried out in Zhangjiagang Lvfeng School, Hengshui Limin Road Primary School in Hebei Province, Baishiyan Primary School in Zhicun Town, Mengzi City, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, and Taiping Primary School in Zhaihao Town, Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province.
In these schools, Arkema staff volunteers have adopted the "Accompanying Growth" model and continued to carry out English tutoring, classroom DIY and knowledge training activities for many years. Built on their previous experience and foundation, the project has updated and led the students to start a sustainable and bright future with "green" and "innovation" in mind.
Clean Water Project
Officially launched in 2020, the project aims to improve the drinking water infrastructure of schools in rural areas by providing water purification equipment, water cups, and water and sanitation training, and to promote children's awareness and habits of water safety so that they can have safe drinking water in schools.
Currently, Arkema's "Clean Water Project" has been implemented in 10 elementary school in Yunnan and Guizhou provinces.
Arkema, together with its business partners, has installed water purification equipment in these schools, equipped children with safe water cups, and regularly organized volunteers to conduct courses on hygiene and health, safety and environmental protection to promote the gradual development of students' personal health and hygiene habits and cultivate their awareness of safety and environmental protection.
