Earlier this year, Arkema was awarded the "Top Employers" in Chinafor the second time in a row, receiving authoritative recognition in terms of work environment and human resources. Recently, Arkema celebrated at its Shanghai office and Changshu site. Ms. Alan Tan, Vice President of Human Resources & Communication Arkema Greater China, was interviewed by CEIBS Business Review and shared her views on hot topics including diversity, inclusion, and talent management.

Two Cities Connected to Cheer for Arkema

 
To celebrate the achievement, Arkema's employees from Shanghai Office and Changshu site held celebrations respectively and joined each other through a video link to share their joy. Julie Xiaoyu Zhang, President of Arkema Greater China,  Alan Tan, Vice President of Human Resources & Communication Arkema Greater China,  Thierry Martin, General Manager of Arkema Changshu Platform and Frank Chen, Deputy GM of ACICS & Government Affairs Director attended the event, and exchanged ideas with each other.
 
At the event, Julie Xiaoyu Zhang said, " As a member of Arkema, I am proud that Arkema received this award once again. Though faced with many uncertainties in 2022, we witnessed Arkema's achievements in optimizing the employees' well-being and development and promoting diversity and inclusion. In the future, we will continue to build the ideal workplace by putting people first and leveraging the strengths of our human resources. I also hope that every Arkema employee can feel a sense of belonging, happiness, and fulfillment at work, and team up to realize the vision of Innovative Materials for a Sustainable World"

Build an Ideal Workplace by Putting People First

 
In an interview with CEIBS Business Review, Ms. Alan Tan emphasized the most important elements of HR practice in Arkema: "people-oriented" and "diversity and inclusion". Based on these, Arkema has continuously innovated its talent management system to build an eco-system in the workplace and an attractive employer brand.
 
"Diversity and inclusion, equal opportunity and fair treatment are at the heart of Arkema's human resources policies."
 
"Diversity and inclusion" is key to Arkema's core values. Arkema has always been an advocate of function-oriented approaches at work and strives to build a positive, diverse, and inclusive work environment for staff development.
 
To reinforce its commitment to diversity and to be a female-friendly employer, the Group has announced its participation in the UN Women's Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) initiative to promote gender equality in the workplace to achieve the Group's ambitious 2030 target of 30% of women in senior management and executive positions. In Arkema China, the percentage has reached 26%, with more and more women taking up management positions. Arkema continues to encourage and create opportunities for female employees to realize their value.
 
In addition, Arkema China always cares about the development of young talents. Every year, Arkema offers internship and campus recruiting programs, providing various opportunities for college students. Arkema has also partnered with the reality TV show "China Trainee" for close dialogues with high-caliber talents with innovation and ambition, providing them with a platform to unlock their potential and make the most of their capacities.

In line with its sustainable development strategy, Arkema's human resources policy also focuses on skills development and diversification to help employees grow.
 
Currently, the Group is deploying global programs under the name of Arkema University, covering areas including supply chain, procurement, IT, etc., with mentors from within and outside the Group sharing their expertise and experience, providing strategic development programs for employees, and creating expertise-sharing communities.
