Plastic manufacturers use a wide range of organic peroxides as polymerization initiators for synthesizing key thermoplastic polymers such as Polyvinyl chloride, Polystyrene, LDPE(Low Density Polyethylene), EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer), Polymethyl methacrylate etc. The oxygen bond in organic peroxides is easily reacted by thermal energy releasing free radicals that can serve as an initiator for the free radical polymerization reaction. In polypropylene (PP) modification the free radicals released by decomposing organic peroxides lead to degradation of PP called vis-breaking. The result is modification to the melt flow index of PP.

Retic® BP 50 LA pastes of benzoyl peroxides, available in different colors, are used at room temperature with polyester putties to repair dents and irregularities in car bodies. A wide range of packaging is available from the smallest tubes or jars to 25kg pails. The product is in a phthalate free solvent.
Luperox® 26, DTA, and DI organic peroxides are some of the key organic peroxides that offer a range of benefits to acrylic coatings. Promoting high monomer conversion with low residuals, organic peroxides contribute to resin performance while keeping molecular weight and viscosity manageable in today’s low VOC formulations.
Luperox® F / Vul-Cup® R and Luperox® 101 organic peroxides improve the melt flow rheology of polypropylene giving it properties that benefit packaging for consumer products, plastic automotive parts, and non-woven textiles. Easy to handle formulated grades with lower peroxide concentration such as Luperox® 101PP7.5, F20ED, F10ED, etc. are preferably used to homogenize and increase the melt flow properties of PP during the recycling process.
Luperox® 575, 26, 270, and DI organic peroxides are used as single initiators or in a combination for the polymerization of methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA) in order to produce PMMA. PMMA sheets are used as components of back-light modules for LCD displays.
Luperox® JWEB50 and 331MO50 organic peroxides are used to initiate the polymerization of ABS. Good processability, high impact strength, and high heat resistance have made ABS an excellent choice for TV casing material.
Luperox® A75, TBEC & TAEC organic peroxides are used as polymerization initiators to make expanded polystyrene (EPS). EPS is a lightweight and cost-effective polymer that provides temperature control in applications such as hot beverage containers, food packaging, goods cushioning and housing insulation.
Composites for Windmill blades
Luperox® MEKP organic peroxide is used for the curing of unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) used to manufacture windmill blades. Luperox® A75 organic peroxide is also used to manufacture Elium® - Arkema's specialty liquid thermoplastic resin for composites used in the manufacturing of strong and durable windmill blades.
Mats
Luperox® F/ Vul-Cup® R organic peroxide is used in mats made from XPE and EVA foaming process to increase the stiffness by building up net structure. Such parts include baby mats, yoga mats, etc.
EVA shoe soles
Luperox® F/ Vul-Cup® R organic peroxide is used in shoe soles made from EVA foaming to create a cross-linking net for improved mechanical strength. The applications include sports shoes, slippers and sandals, especially for kids. Compared with dicumyl peroxide, Luperox® F/ Vul-Cup® R is odorless.
Acne Treatment
Luperox® A75FP organic peroxide is an exfoliating agent used in highly effective acne creams and gels. In addition to increasing turnover of skin cells, formulations based on Luperox® A75FP work to destroy acne-causing bacteria.
Shower Inserts
Luperox® MEKP organic peroxide is used in a variety of composite applications for the residential building market. Those applications include fiberglass tub and shower units for both residential and hospitality, cultured marble for vanity and shower pans as well as tub and shower surrounds.
Window Profiles
Luperox® F/ Vul-Cup® R, Luperox® 231 organic peroxides are used as cross-linking agents in rubber building profiles and sponge door profiles. Compared to sulfur curing, Luperox® peroxides impart higher durability thanks to better compression set and heat ageing resistance. With Luperox® AIR® organic peroxide technology, curing performances can be obtained with a simple hot air tunnel system.
